Looking for spring in all the wrong places: SHOWS AND NEWS

BIO: The vivid songwriting of Catie Curtis combines insightful lyrics with addictive melodies and energy. Catie's recordings (released on EMI, Rykodisc, Vanguard and Compass), engaging live shows and impressive touring career (in the US and Europe) have earned her rave reviews and wide recognition. Her songs have been featured on Dawson's Creek, Felicity, Alias, Chicago Hope, and Grey's Anatomy, as well as in several independent films. She's toured extensively with Mary Chapin Carpenter and with the original Lilith Fair. Catie was named grand prize winner of the International Songwriting Competition, for her song "People Look Around", co-written with Mark Erelli.  In January 2009 performed at the Human Rights Campaign's official Obama inaugural ball.  In 2010, she performed at the White House. Catie is recording a brand new CD of new material  in January, which will be released in the summer of 2011.

Amidst dirty snow, mud puddles, and other subtle but welcome signs of spring, I bring you the news of my upcoming shows and the new CD!

On Friday March 11th, I'll be in Phoenixville, PA for a show at the artsy Philadephia-area venue, the Steel City Coffeehouse. Then I'm heading west  to Northern California (actually I might find me some spring here!) from March 17th through the 20th, for performances at Don Quixotes in Felton, the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, and the Arcata Playhouse (Arcata).  In April, my tour keeps me in the decidedly not-yet-springy Northeast and Northern Midwest: Norfolk CT, Reading MA, NYC,  Ann Arbor, Iowa City, DesMoines, IA and Lincoln Nebraska.  (Full schedule appears below or beside this newsletter)

The new CD is really coming together beautifully, and I'm looking forward to adding the final touches this month.  I'm honored to say that I'll be joined on harmony vocals by the honey-voiced, platinum-selling artist Mary Chapin Carpenter, along with the luscious-sounding # 1 hit singer/songwriter, Lisa Loeb!  The title of the new recording is in transition.  I'm not sure what I'll call it but I'll be sure to let you know as soon this gemini has made up her mind.  The release date is set for August 30th on Compass Records.

A few dates you might like to know about 'cause it's already time to get tickets:
6/18 Club Passim in Cambridge, MA
7/24-30th Swannanoa Gathering in the mountains of North Carolina (week-long songwriting and guitar camp,  primarily for adults although exceptions are made)
8/5  Michigan Womyn's Music Festival

I'm enjoying hearing from so many of you on Facebook.  Some of you request songs, some ask for special birthday messages, and I think some just come for photos of my dog.  So feel free to "Friend" me or join me on the fan page!

See you out there,
Catie
