Lilth Fair press conference 1998
I'm reluctant to use the word TOUR because seven years ago I officially stopped touring. However, it appears that I have 8 shows coming up: 5 shows in October, 1 in November and 2 in December. Why? Because how can you say no to these experiences?
- Four shows with Maia Sharp in October (Northampton MA, New London NH, Somerville MA and Brownfield ME)
- A Provincetown MA show at the Post Office Cafe during Women's Week (10/17)
- A show in LOVELY Eastham MA in November
- And two chances to sprinkle holiday songs in with my regular repetoire in December (Pawtucket RI and Newburyport MA)
- Also it feels like an important time for LGBTQ visibility, right?
- Links and details in the tour section of this site
And on another note, We just watched the Lilith Fair documentary, so I was compelled to dig out a few photos. I performed in '98. Sarah McLachlan was unbelievably kind. She spent time helping me learn the song for the encore which of course is NOT how relationship between main stage (and famous founder of festival) and B stage performers usually looks! My hero Bonnie Raitt invited me to sing on Angel from Montgomery with her, and I remember Natalie Merchant as super shy and sweet. Other artists in the documentary Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery made a huge impact on me in other ways. I knew I wanted to be a singer/songwriter the night I saw Suzanne Vega in college. And then the incredible Tracy Chapman and the Indigo Girls paved the way toward major labels signing female/queer artists. I am deeply grateful to all these artists. I'm just happy to see this inspiring documentary and be reminded of those times.
I understand if you don't like travel either, but if you are up for it I'd love to see you at a show! Make a weekend of it!?
Take extra good care,
Catie
