Album Recording Update!

Tracking at Dimension Sound in JP

I've got a whole bunch of recording updates for you! At the end of December, my kickstarter campaign concluded successfully. That was a lovely way to move in to 2026, looking forward to making a new album.

In January we tracked seven songs with bass (Scott Ziegler), drums (Zach Field), keyboards (Jamie Edwards), electric guitar (Kevin Barry) and me on vocals and acoustic guitar. Since then co-producer Jamie Edwards and I have been meeting up at my home studio (stocked with his kick-ass gear) and at Rare Signals (Brian Charles's studio in Cambridge). We've been adding percussion, singing harmonies (Dennis Brennan joined us for two tunes) and other little touches. Jamie has been arranging and playing more cool textural parts for keys and guitar. Lots of yumminess.

At Brian's I recorded a few more tunes with Jamie and me. One, "Come on Butterfly" we tracked with just Jamie on piano and me singing. That's where this photo of me and my dog Soji came from

-- I wasn't playing guitar and Soji wanted to be in the vocal booth we me, so we did it together! Two days later we sent the song to a fabulous string quartet in Los Angeles (The Section Quartet) and they recorded an arrangement co-written by Zachariah Hickman and Jamie. It's stunning. Last week Kristen Hall sang harmonies on a song. I love Kristen and her voice so much. She came up with a really neat part. Woo hoo!

Next weekend I'll be finishing up any vocal fixes or harmonies, and Rose Polenzani will be coming in to sing with me. Also, there are two more women planning to sing harmonies but I'll announce those once we get closer to the time. Right now the plan is to finish all the tracking by April and then mix this thing in May. I'm planning on a fall release but I will probably have lead tracks and sneak peeks available before then.

I look forward to sharing music when it's ready!

I hope you are well out there.

Take good care,

Catie
