Tim Kaine, HRC president, Joe Solmonese and singer-songwriter Catie Curtis for a fundraising event to benefit Delegate David Englin, member of the Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia Democratic Caucus on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Alexandria, Virginia.

The goal for this $1,000 per ticket event is to raise $100,000, and the hosts are more than halfway there!

Virginia's November election packs a great deal of significance. A Democratic win of six additional seats in the Virginia House of Delegates will wrestle the state majority from the current Republican majority. Failure to gain these seats ensures that the state will face redistricting, which will surely put equality for Virginia's LGBT individuals – and many others – beyond our grasp.

David Englin is committed to sharing the proceeds of this event with the Virginia Democratic Caucus, to help spread the wealth and ensure further victories throughout the state.

Currently, Virginia ranks right up there with Idaho and Utah in terms of extending equality to LGBT individuals – not acceptable.
