Singer/songwriter Antje Duvekot inspired MJ and me to join her at a volunteer-supported Guatemalan community called Project Somos. In Guatemala, poverty is prevalent. Many children are forced to drop out of school to work and support their families. Nearly one-half of Guatemala’s children under age five are chronically malnourished, one of the world's highest malnutrition rates. Play is often seen as frivolous.

Project Somos provides a loving place for children to learn, healthy food to eat, and safe places to play and explore. As volunteers, we will help with planting, painting, playing with kids, construction, food prep, harvesting or whatever is needed. I will also be playing some music!”

Event tips (Venmo, PayPal or donations to GoFundMe) will go in part to assisting with travel expenses for Catie and MJ’s service trip to Guatemala, with additional proceeds to benefit Project Somos directly.
