MARCH in Massachusetts

Just back from a fun trip to Texas and to the Southwest Indie Fest in Albuquerque, NEW MEXICO (with Adrianne and Natalia Zuckerman).  Looking forward to lots of upcoming shows on the road in April! Click on "gigs" to scan itinerary.

This Saturday night, 3/21 I'll appear in Shirley, MASSACHUSETTS at the Bull Run Coffeehouse.  Also on Saturday, from 11-4, I'm co-facillitating a creativity workshop in Newton, MA (info below).

THE HRC INAUGURAL BALL ROCKED! Go to the PHOTOS section of this website and check out  "2009 Obama Inauguration."  After performing my own set I sang (and danced!) with Cyndi Lauper...

WORKSHOP IN MARCH:  My talented friend Margie Zohn and I are offering a workshop at the New Art Center in Newton, Massachusetts on March 21 called "Springboard to Your Creativity".  You don't need ANY skills or experience to participate!  Just join us on March 21, the first of day of Spring, as we kickstart our creative lives --- whatever form your creativity takes.  In this workshop we will use music, movement, improv, writing and reflection to bring our creative selves out to play.  We will also help each person identify creative goals for the new season, and discover some practical steps to bring them to life.  This will be an extremely fun, enlivening, safe and supportive atmosphere.  No experience necessary, just the desire to enhance your creative life!  Margie and I met when we both appeared in Faith Soloway's "Jesus Has Two Mommies," the musical.

BLUEGRASS CD:  I'm listening to roughs of my new bluegrass (-ish) CD that I recorded last week.  As usual, producer Garry West of Compass Records lined up a crackerjack band: George Marinelli (Bonnie Raitt's guitarist), Alison Brown (Grammy-Award winning banjo player), Stuart Duncan on fiddle (he toured with Mark Knopfler/Emmylou Harris on the Roadrunning tour and with the Robert Plant/Alison Krauss Raising Sand tour, to much acclaim), Nashville legend Kenny Malone on percussion and Todd Phillips on stand-up bass.  We just kinda felt our way through this very organic process leading us to eleven songs, 5 of mine and 6 cover tunes, including a duet with Mary Gauthier on a Carter Family tune, Hello Stranger.  I'm VERY excited to get this out, probably fall 2009.
