Shows in VT, Cambridge MA, Cincinnati OH...  And way to go Maine!

This weekend my 6 year-old Lucy is going on the road with me under her new moniker, Tour Manager Junior. We'll see how this goes... It's a co-bill in Randolph VT with Cheryl Wheeler.  Saturday night's 7 PM show at Club Passim is SOLD OUT but there are still tickets for the 10 PM show with Annabelle Chvostek. Come and have a beer, wine, or folk water (tea). Elana Arian (fiddle and vocals) and Rose Polenzani (vocals) will be accompanying me.

I'll be celebrating the memory of Katie Reider in Cincinnati OH, on May 23rd (her birthday), at the Taste of Cincinnati along with Edie Carey and others.

For most of June and July I will take some time off the road and turn to family and summer camp on the shores of Lake Michigan. I will venture out for a couple gigs in Flagstaff AZ  and Traverse City, MI. (see GIGS section of my web site ). See August for shows resuming in the Northeast and elsewhere.

Photos from the concert in Madison featuring Ani, Dar, Indigo Girls, Melissa Ferrick, Peter Mulvey and Hammel on Trial  and me are up at CatieCurtis.com or friend me at facebook!   (I update the personal one more than the "band" one-- they each have different things on them).

Coming soon: Hello Stranger, my new bluegrass record! It's fully mastered, and ready to print, with cover art by humorist (and best-selling author) Suzy Becker .

As of today, same-sex marriage will become legal in Maine, and my mom helped! My mom, who has traveled the long road from shock to acceptance to advocacy with regard to the her gay daughter, stood up and testified to legislators in Augusta  during open hearings a couple weeks ago. To my Mom I say, I am so proud, you really did it! What a great early start to our Mother's Day celebrations!

And finally, just when I thought no one in mainstream country music had ever heard of me, this from an interview Friday May 1st with country star Pam Tillis in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Q: Given the crummy economy and general state of things, what do you feel needs to be expressed through song right now?
A: "There was a song I discovered recently, Catie Curtis song World Don't Owe Me. Its talking about the things that are free in life, they're just blessings. They're a gift. That song reminded me that people need a different slant on reality. That's what music is. It's a release from all of that. It's a balm for people. Life will go on. We'll get through this hard time. We'll rebuild."

Well said, Pam!  Happy spring, and see you out there!
